> Cloudflare Agents SDK agents@0.32.0 (October 29, 2026) is a breaking change for agents/skills: skills now load from Workspace files, R2 or code, SKILL.md is checked against the Agent Skills spec, and SkillRegistry is replaced by loadSkillCatalog() and createSkillTools(). It also adds an experimental experimental_registerOpenTelemetry() to agents/observability.

## What changed

- Breaking for agents/skills: skills now load from Computer Workspace files (workspace()), R2 (r2()) or code (manifest()), and SKILL.md files are checked against the Agent Skills spec, with rule-breaking skills loaded with warnings.
- SkillRegistry is replaced by loadSkillCatalog() and createSkillTools() (from agents/skills/tools/ai-sdk), runner() moves to agents/skills/runner, and the agents:skills Vite import and agents/skills/compile are removed.
- New experimental_registerOpenTelemetry() in agents/observability records spans from OpenTelemetry-instrumented libraries as Workers trace spans; the notes call it experimental and subject to change.
- The package is now marked side-effect free apart from the CLI, so importing routeAgentRequest from agents no longer bundles the MCP client.
- MCP packages move to @modelcontextprotocol/client and server 2.4.0 and sdk 1.32.2, and DurableObjectOAuthClientProvider gains a clientMetadataUrl option for OAuth Client ID Metadata Documents.
- The companion @cloudflare/think 0.23.0 reloads getSkills() sources every turn and removes skillWorkspace and the extension "skill" context block type.

## Early verdict

If you use agents/skills or SkillRegistry, plan code changes before upgrading to 0.32.0; other users mainly get smaller bundles and newer MCP packages. (Basis: Based only on the agents@0.32.0 and @cloudflare/think@0.23.0 release notes; we have not run this version.)

## What we have not verified

- We did not run this release ourselves or test the new skill loader.
- The release notes give no migration guide beyond the linked Agent Skills docs, which we did not review in full.
- We did not check how long the OpenTelemetry hook will stay experimental; the notes give no timeline.
