> On November 3, 2026 GitHub made Copilot available in JetBrains Air through the Agent Client Protocol (ACP); you can pick Copilot in Air's agent picker for local tasks, or run cloud tasks through Air Teams that use your Copilot plan rather than JetBrains AI credits.

## What changed

- GitHub Copilot is now available in JetBrains Air, according to GitHub's changelog of November 3, 2026; the integration uses the Agent Client Protocol (ACP) and supports tasks in your JetBrains IDE or in the cloud.
- Local tasks: install Air in your JetBrains IDE, select GitHub Copilot in Air's agent picker and connect your Copilot account; Air can track multiple agent sessions and you review changes alongside your code.
- Cloud tasks run through Air Teams from the IDE (choose Cloud in the environment selector) or the browser, and use your Copilot plan rather than JetBrains AI credits; they need an Air Teams-enabled business organization and an administrator who has enabled Copilot.
- Each cloud task runs in a Docker container on a fresh virtual machine, all traffic passes through a proxy and no state carries over between tasks, per the changelog.
- Limits GitHub lists: you cannot choose whether a task uses your personal or your organization's Copilot plan, Air's governance and analytics do not include Copilot usage, and Air admins can disable Copilot but cannot set Copilot spending limits in Air.

## Early verdict

Teams on JetBrains IDEs who already pay for Copilot can run it as an Air agent without buying JetBrains AI credits, but admins lose Copilot spend limits and usage analytics inside Air. (Basis: Based only on the billing, governance and admin limits the changelog describes; we have not run it.)

## What we have not verified

- We did not run Copilot in JetBrains Air, locally or in the cloud.
- The changelog does not say which Copilot plans or models are available in Air, or how cloud tasks count against premium requests.
- We did not check JetBrains' own Air documentation or pricing for Air Teams.
