> GitHub Copilot can now be used inside Xcode's built-in coding assistant, in public preview "available starting with Xcode 27.3 beta", per GitHub's November 4, 2026 changelog. It needs macOS Tahoe 26.6 or later, works on all Copilot plans, and sits alongside the separate GitHub Copilot for Xcode extension.

## What changed

- Copilot is now a provider inside Xcode's own built-in coding assistant, so you can use it in the native Xcode workflow instead of only through a separate extension.
- The integration is a public preview and needs Xcode 27.3 beta, downloaded from Apple Developer Downloads; GitHub does not say when it reaches a stable Xcode release.
- System requirement: a Mac running macOS Tahoe 26.6 or later.
- Setup lives in Xcode > Settings > Intelligence, where you add GitHub Copilot to the coding assistant. GitHub says all Copilot plans are supported.
- The existing GitHub Copilot for Xcode extension is not replaced; it remains a separate option, and feedback goes to that extension's repository or Apple Feedback Assistant.

## What we have not verified

- We did not install Xcode 27.3 beta or try the integration; everything here is from GitHub's changelog.
- GitHub does not list which Copilot features or models are available inside Xcode's assistant compared with the extension, or whether usage counts against premium requests differently.
- We did not read Apple's Xcode 27.3 beta release notes, which GitHub points to for more detail.
