#What the source saysStatus
01microsoft.foundry extension bundle for Azure Developer CLI (azd) reaches version 1.0 and is generally available; install with azd ext install microsoft.foundry.Reported
02Requires Azure Developer CLI 1.37.0 or later (azd update) and a current uv release; the sample uses Python 3.13 or later.Reported
03Agent and deployment configuration stays in azure.yaml alongside code so reviews, teammates and CI/CD share one definition across azd environments.Reported
04Local loop: azd ai agent init from a Foundry sample, azd provision, azd ai agent run (opens Agent Inspector), azd ai agent invoke --local, then azd deploy to hosted agents.Reported
05Optional Evaluations extension (azure.ai.evaluations) generates datasets/rubrics and runs azd ai eval; azd pipeline config wires GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps with azd 1.37.0.Reported

Primary source: Microsoft Foundry Blog: azd extension GA. We are the fast, independent index; the vendor’s own page is the source of record for this release.

In the source’s words

“Today, the Microsoft Foundry extension bundle (microsoft.foundry) for Azure Developer CLI (azd) reaches version 1.0 and is generally available.”

“Install Azure Developer CLI 1.37.0 or later, or upgrade an existing installation with azd update.”

“Agent and deployment configuration stays alongside your code in azure.yaml.”

Early verdict

Relevant to Azure/Foundry teams standardizing agent deploy on azd; the 1.0 GA mainly hardens the azure.yaml plus Agent Inspector workflow already previewed.

Basis: Based on Microsoft's November 5 Foundry blog post; we have not run azd with the extension.

What we have not verified

  • We did not install azd 1.37.0 or the microsoft.foundry extension, or provision Azure resources.
  • Azure charges for provisioned resources and model usage are noted by Microsoft; we did not measure cost.
  • We did not run the evaluations extension or a CI pipeline.
