What this site is
Agentic Weekly is an independent weekly radar of new AI and agent tool releases. For each release it publishes what changed, a one-sentence verdict, best-for tags and a step-by-step setup tutorial, written from official release notes and docs and linked to those sources. Every entry is labelled Reported (written from official sources, not run by us) or Tested (we ran a small smoke test; the scope is stated on every Tested entry and is not a benchmark). Paid featured listings and affiliate links are always labelled and never change a verdict or ranking.
How to cite

How picks are chosen
Ranks are editorial judgement made by Agentic Weekly when an entry is written or updated. They are not benchmark results, user ratings, popularity counts or paid positions.
- We rank only the 139 tools we track, not the whole market. "#1" means top of the tools we cover for that task, not best overall.
- The reason for each rank is the one-line blurb shown beside it. Typical reasons are how well the tool's own docs say it fits the task and how actively it is maintained according to its dated release notes.
- There is no numeric scoring formula, and we have not run quality head-to-head comparisons between ranked tools; our research studies measure install size, startup time and speed for some tools, and those numbers do not set ranks. Where a rank looks like a verdict on quality, it is our reading of official sources, not a measured result.
- The Tested label does not raise a rank. Tested means a small smoke test (install plus a short task, usually on a small local model), not a benchmark. Reported and Tested entries are ranked from the same kind of evidence.
- Payment cannot change a rank. Featured listings are labelled and are never used to order a list.
- Prices and plan details are shown only with a date and an official source. Where we could only find a third-party figure, or could not read the official page, the entry says so.
- Ranks can change when a release, price or doc changes. Each page shows when it was last verified.
Reported: written from official sources (release notes, docs, README, pricing pages) that we fetched and linked. We have not run it. Tested: we ran a small hands-on smoke test (install plus a short task) and state on the page what was run, on what model and hardware, on what date, and what was not covered. A smoke test is not a benchmark and says nothing about quality with vendor-hosted models. More in the editorial policy.

- Install size and a first tool-calling task across 16 agent frameworks: what we measured · We installed 16 Python and 4 JavaScript agent frameworks and ran one tool task on each with a local 3B model. Installs ranged from 26 to 819 MB.
- MCP servers over stdio: startup time, call latency and what broke when we ran 15 of them · We timed 15 MCP server setups over stdio. Most calls took about a millisecond; the surprises were a version change, a loopback block and a hosted lookup.
- npm on an older Node installs old versions without telling you: four measured cases and other install traps · On Node 20, npm quietly installed older major versions of four AI packages; we list the versions, the traps in Python installs, and the one test setting that fooled us.
- Ollama and llama.cpp on a CPU-only box: three Qwen2.5 sizes, same prompts · We ran Qwen2.5-Instruct at 0.5B, 1.5B and 3B (Q4_K_M) through Ollama and llama.cpp on 8 CPU cores and compared pass rates, speed and tool calling.
- A voice round trip on CPU: Piper speaks, faster-whisper listens, and int8 changes the answer · We synthesised 10 sentences with Piper, transcribed them back with faster-whisper in 9 configurations and measured word error rate. float32 was stable; int8 was not.
