AI agent questions answered: LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, n8n and more
Short answers on AI agent frameworks and builders, from the tool pages we keep and our dated smoke tests (each run once on a small local model, so no quality ranking). In one line: LangGraph and CrewAI are MIT-licensed code frameworks, LangChain is the broad integration library, and n8n is a visual workflow tool under a fair-code licence. Last checked Oct 27, 2026.

Evidence: Reported from each tool's repository and docs (read Oct 25, 2026, America/Chicago). Our smoke tests of LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI and n8n each used one small task on a local 3B model and are not a comparison of quality.

FAQ
LangGraph vs LangChain: what is the difference?
Both come from the LangChain team and are MIT-licensed. LangChain is the broad library of integrations for LLM apps and agents in Python and JavaScript; LangGraph is a lower-level framework for stateful agents defined as a graph of steps, with explicit control of state. They are often used together. We smoke-tested both (LangGraph, LangChain); that is not a quality ranking.
CrewAI vs LangChain: which should I use?
CrewAI is an MIT-licensed framework for role-based multi-agent crews, with a built-in eval command and a very fast release cadence. LangChain is the wider integration library. Pick CrewAI if you like the crew-of-agents model; pick LangChain for breadth of integrations. Tests: CrewAI, LangChain. No quality ranking.
LangGraph vs n8n: which is better for agents?
Different tools. LangGraph is a code library (MIT) for stateful agent graphs. n8n is a visual workflow builder with 400+ integrations and native AI agents, self-hostable or cloud, under a fair-code licence that is not OSI open source. Pick LangGraph for custom agent logic in code, n8n to wire apps and AI without writing code. Tests: LangGraph, n8n.
What are AI agents, and where should a beginner start?
An AI agent is software where a language model decides the steps and uses tools (search, files, APIs) to reach a goal, checking results as it goes (what is agentic AI). To start without code, a visual tool such as n8n is a gentle entry; to learn the ideas in code, try LangGraph or CrewAI. See agent frameworks we track.
What does AssemblyAI cost, and is it any good?
AssemblyAI sells speech-to-text and speech-understanding APIs. Its pricing page (read Oct 25, 2026) lets you start free and pay as you go, but the units are not captured in our record, so we quote no price. We have not tested AssemblyAI and have no review. See AssemblyAI.
