Google DeepMind announces Gemini 4 Carbon, a frontier model going to cyber defenders first
Gemini 4 Carbon is Google DeepMind's new frontier model, announced Oct 28, 2026, two weeks after Gemini 4 Argon. Google calls it its strongest model for cybersecurity and long-horizon tasks; it goes first to a subset of cyber defenders, with developer access promised later at an introductory $2 / $10 per 1M tokens.

What changed
- Google DeepMind announced Gemini 4 Carbon, which it calls its strongest model, with state-of-the-art cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities. It builds on Gemini 4 Argon, launched two weeks earlier.
- Access is limited for now: starting this week Carbon goes to a subset of cyber defenders, then to more trusted partners through Google's Fairwind Program, before developers, businesses and consumers get it.
- Price at launch, per the post: the same introductory price as Argon, $2 per 1M input tokens and $10 per 1M output tokens, with cached input 95% off; after the introductory period, $4 input and $20 output.
- Google's benchmark claims (evaluated without guardrails): 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro, 54.8% on ExploitGym, 71.0% on CWE-bench, #1 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5.0 at 59, and #4 (1769) on WebDev Arena.
- Google says Carbon is built for sustained agentic engineering work, more than doubles Argon's success rate at generating secure code on internal benchmarks, and scored 0.0% attack success on Gray Swan's indirect prompt injection benchmark.

“Starting this week, we will make Carbon available to a subset of cyber defenders and will gradually phase access to additional trusted partners through our Fairwind Program”
“Internally, our teams have seen Carbon run for days to persist through dead ends to tackle complex, multi-step engineering tasks”
What we have not verified
- We did not run this model; it is not yet available to developers.
- All benchmark numbers and internal results are Google's own claims; we did not reproduce them.
- The post gives no API model ID, context window, release date for developers or end date for the introductory price.
