reanimate: a Claude Code skill that films an animation, rebuilds it, then re-films the copy until they match
reanimate is an MIT-licensed Claude Code skill, created on GitHub on Oct 29, 2026, that records a reference animation, rebuilds it in your code, then records the copy and compares the two; its README says "Each round shows what's still off, so the agent keeps going until the numbers match." It had 461 GitHub stars when we checked on Oct 31, 2026.

What changed
| # | What the source says | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | reanimate is a Claude Code skill that works from a live site, a screen recording, an mp4, a gif or a Lottie file. It installs with npx skills add NiazMorshed2007/reanimate -g and is invoked as /reanimate with a target and a destination file. | Reported |
| 02 | Its loop, per the README: record the reference in a headless browser at a fixed viewport and frame rate, write a per-element spec (start, duration, easing, stagger), build it with what the project already uses (CSS, Framer Motion, GSAP or three.js), film the copy the same way and compare, usually over 2 to 5 rounds. | Reported |
| 03 | By default it matches motion only (timing within 80 ms, same easing family and distance). Asking for a pixel-perfect match also checks fonts, colours, spacing and assets, with a target of 2% or less mean pixel mismatch. | Reported |
| 04 | For canvas, WebGL and WebGPU it traces the GPU calls and hooks three.js, Pixi, PlayCanvas, Babylon and OGL scene graphs; a virtual clock with seeded Math.random makes repeat captures identical. | Reported |
| 05 | It needs Bun 1.1 or later on macOS or Linux (Windows untested), needs no API keys, and on first run downloads a static ffmpeg plus Playwright's Chromium, about 250 MB together. The README says it has only been tested with Claude Code. | Reported |
| 06 | The README lists 14 example clones of animations from sites including vercel.com, stripe.com, clerk.com and resend.com, each with the author's own match measurements, and says most took 30 to 90 minutes. | Reported |

Primary source: reanimate repository and README (GitHub). We are the fast, independent index; the vendor’s own page is the source of record for this release.
In the source’s words
“It can't see the motion or tell how far off it is.”
“Each round shows what's still off, so the agent keeps going until the numbers match.”
Early verdict
Worth a look if you rebuild web animations with Claude Code: the record, compare and repeat loop targets the exact failure the README describes, a single pass with no way to measure the gap.
Basis: Based only on the project's README as read on Oct 31, 2026; we have not run it.
What we have not verified
- We did not install or run the skill; every match figure (frames identical, pixel mismatch, milliseconds) is the author's own claim from the README.
- We did not check how well it works with agents other than Claude Code, which the README says are untested.
- The README notes that fonts, images and code copied from another site still belong to their owners; we did not assess licensing of any specific clone.
