Our verdict

Strong pick if you want build, hosting and monitoring in one place; read the credit and overage rules first.

Good for

  • Builders who want an agent that also watches the app after launch
  • Solo founders who want incorporation help inside the tool
  • Teams that want shared chats and reusable skills

Skip if

  • You want to keep code and hosting on your own infrastructure
  • You need predictable spend; credits and overage limits apply

Status: Reported. This write-up is based on official release notes and docs; we have not run this release ourselves yet.

What’s new

Replit's Oct 23 update adds a Monitoring Agent that investigates production issues from logs and metrics and can attempt fixes, plus reusable workspace skills, chat and asset sharing, and Stripe Atlas incorporation help.

  • Monitoring Agent: investigates production issues using your app's logs and metrics, then attempts and validates fixes. Turn on Monitoring alerts and Auto-fix; publishing fixes automatically needs the experimental Auto-republish setting.
  • Agent can create and update reusable workspace skills from your conversations and projects, which you review before saving.
  • Share a whole chat or a single asset with selected teammates.
  • Stripe Atlas on Replit: ask Agent to help incorporate through Stripe Atlas, with 20% off when you incorporate through Replit.
  • Eligible top-up customers can keep published apps running at zero credits up to an overage limit; paid Agent pauses and Free mode stays available.

How to set it up: Start building on Replit

Steps come from the vendor's own docs or README. We have not run them ourselves.

  1. Read the get-started guide

Replit's docs walk through a coffee-shop launch from idea to a published opening site. It is the clearest way to see the flow.

    https://docs.replit.com/home/get-started.md
  2. Start a chat or Project

Use a chat for questions and research, or a Project for substantial build and design work. The docs explain when to continue in a chat and when to use a Project.

  3. Turn on Monitoring (optional)

Monitoring alerts and Auto-fix are settings you enable per app. Review fixes yourself unless you deliberately enable the experimental Auto-republish setting.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Build, run, host and monitor in one workspace
  • Detailed, dated updates page
  • You review skills and fixes before they are saved or published (unless you enable auto-republish)

Cons

  • Credits reset each cycle on Core (no rollover); Pro credits roll over only two months, so spend is hard to predict
  • Auto-republish is experimental
  • Credit-based; overage rules add complexity

Alternatives and comparisons

  • Lovable: Describe an app in plain English, preview it, and publish it to a lovable.app address.
  • v0: Vercel's AI app and UI builder: chat to build, preview, then ship to Vercel.
  • Claude Code: Anthropic's agentic coding tool for your terminal, IDE and GitHub.
  • Base44: No-code AI platform that builds apps and websites from your words, with backend, authentication, payments and hosting built in.

FAQ

What is Replit's Monitoring Agent?

An agent that investigates production issues from your app's logs and metrics and attempts and validates fixes. Auto-fix and alerts are opt-in.

Does Replit help with Stripe Atlas?

Yes. Ask Agent to help incorporate through Stripe Atlas; Replit says you get 20% off when you incorporate through Replit.

What happens when credits run out?

For eligible top-up customers, published apps can keep running at zero credits up to an overage limit; paid Agent pauses while Free mode stays available.

How much does Replit cost?

Replit's docs say Starter is free with a daily Agent allowance, Core includes $20 in monthly credits (full Agent, up to 5 collaborators), and Pro is $100/month (up to 10 parallel Agent tasks, up to 15 builders, credits roll over for two months). Credit packs can be bought on top. Core's own monthly sticker price came from a search summary of Replit's pricing page ($20/month, $18 billed annually); we could not open the pricing page itself.

What we have not verified

  • Core's monthly sticker price and annual discount (the docs state credits, not the price; the pricing page returned 403)
  • Monitoring Agent quality (not tested)
  • Whether the Stripe Atlas discount applies to your situation
