Primary source: Gemini API release notes. We are the fast, independent index; the vendor’s own page is the source of record for this release.

In the source’s words

“Released the Computer Use tool to general availability (GA) across the Interactions and GenerateContent APIs.”

“a stateless, zero-dependency command-line client for AI coding agents, scripts, and CI pipelines”

“The Computer Use tool lets you build browser, mobile, and desktop control agents that interact with and automate tasks.”

Early verdict

Worth a look if you build browser or desktop agents on Gemini: Computer Use is no longer a preview, and gemini-api gives coding agents a plain CLI into the Interactions API.

Basis: Based only on Google's release notes and docs; we have not run either.

What we have not verified

  • We did not build a Computer Use agent or run the gemini-api CLI.
  • Google's changelog gives dates, not times; pricing and rate limits for GA Computer Use were not checked.
