Our verdict
Worth a look if you run agents on several repos or want one place for editor, cloud agents and Git hosting; the October changes are mostly for teams.
Good for
- Teams that want cloud agents with shared, scriptable environments
- Developers who like an editor-first workflow with an agent built in
- Platform teams evaluating Origin and its app marketplace
Skip if
- You work only in a terminal and want a lightweight open-source agent
- You want all third-party model usage included in a flat fee; Cursor says it is billed separately by usage

Best for
- Best AI tool for AI coding agents: A full editor plus cloud agents; the October release focuses on multi-repo cloud environments.
- Best AI tool for vibe coding: Describe changes in chat and let the agent edit files; cloud agents can run longer tasks for you.
What’s new
Cursor's October changelog adds canvases built by cloud agents, a beta Environments API, much larger cloud environments, and a public app marketplace for Origin, its Git hosting product.
- Oct 16: Cloud agents can build interactive canvases as part of their work, and you can share a finished canvas with your team by link.
- Oct 16: The Environments API is in beta, so you can create and manage the cloud environments your agents run in from code.
- Oct 16: Cloud agent environments now support up to 300 repositories, and large environments load 5x faster.
- Oct 13: Origin now integrates with over 20 apps for deployments, CI, code review, security, monitoring and project management (including Cloudflare, Linear, Sentry and Socket Security), and the marketplace is open to public submissions.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Frequent, dated changelog entries
- Cloud agents, CLI and Git hosting from one vendor
- Environments API lets teams automate agent setups
Cons
- Premium and above list third-party models billed separately at API list price, so total cost is hard to predict
- The Environments API is beta
- Origin marketplace and canvases are most useful to teams, less to solo users
- The pricing page bundles plan features that are not about coding (for example ad-free scrolling and a preferred @handle), so read what each tier includes
Alternatives and comparisons

- GitHub Copilot: GitHub's AI coding assistant in the editor, the CLI, GitHub.com and an agent app.
